Full breaking removes the entire weight of the towed vehicle when stooping. And, the worst part is that once the system is setup, you don't need to use the remote for anything. for maybe another ten miles (IF you're really lucky!) and the system loses the link again. Once you reset the towed vehicle system, and have a good link, it's back on the road again. Then you have to reestablish the link between the two components, which you can only do by resetting the system in the towed vehicle.
When that happens, the whole Brake Buddy system stops working until you stop. The system constantly loses connection between the remote on the MH dash and the installed system in the towed vehicle. However, this is one of the worst designs I have ever seen, and for a system that is supposed to be a safety system, this thing is a real rip off. The digital display makes setting the brakes the easiest ever. The controller worked as expected with no trouble. The terrain varried from rolling hills to flats and then some pretty large hills. I pulled a 16' car hauler 1300 miles one weekend and 1/2 of that distance was loaded with an 82 volkswagon pickup truck, diesel engine and multiple parts from a vw rabbit. Since it's setup for 3 braking axles it is highly effective with single or double braking axles as well.
I also purchased the quick connect harness for my truck and had this thing installed in literally less than 10 minutes. Saw it at walmart that evening for $65 so I got a very great deal. ( More customer reviews)I bought this brake controller for $30 on Amazon NIB.
